I`we never reallly understood how to place ships in orbit around another celestrial body than earth with scn editor.

And sometimes you just dont want to do all the calculations

Tools brother, tools ;)

http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4239

Also in the scn you can adjust your jump distance like this:

Code: [Select]
DJD 149597870.6910
Just increase the number.

In the BattleStars you can adjust your distance with the u and d keys. It will increase it or decrease your distance.  Then use your thrust to dial it in.  It's easy to use because it's in AU's.  Miranda is 20.27AU away in my O at the moment and with the above you can point and jump.

No offense but everyone playing orbiter is not einstein

And in the computerex addon pack i could not find a jump mfd.

The starwars physics would be nice if they would work

I here you and I can't get from planet side to orbit if my life depended on it.
I just point and guess for the jumps. If I don't get there I jump again and if I over shoot I turn around and jump again with a smaller jump distance. With the newer ships I use the Warp drive which is just point and go.

I've never tried the Star Wras physics or the jump MFD from computerex.

I'm a prime example of the first remark lol :-*

computerex didn't make it.  Here it is:

I can show you how to increase your jump distance cells also (more controlled and huge range).

I can help you with this.  When it works for you it will change O for you.  Is the Mfd there?  If not its not activated in the modules control.  If you do see it, first select the surface HUD so you can see the circle come into the center as soon as you use thrust. Activate the top left button on the MFD and it will say active.  You can even turn off the gravity in O which comes in handy.  Hope you can get it to work.

I'm surprised that made it past the "naughty word" filter.

I'll have to check it out.

The Jump or the Star Wars Physics CTD's you?  Is this '06 or '10?  Either way you have a conflict.  I've never tried the Jump MFDin '10 (new warp and all on the RTF ships ^-^)  But I know that the Physics MFD works in both.  I would deactivate all other plugin's but that and see if it works.  Then add them one by one till it crashes that way you know whats conflicting.

Cap's right about that. You could also try it a fresh test instal ( highly recomended ) and then add your favorite plug ins and mfds untill it goes THUD.

I'm trying to find a copy of the FTL MFD mentioned in this thread. The mediashare links in this thread to the FTL MFD zip files are not working, and a search of Orbit Hanger's website was unable to turn up an FTL MFD (at least, not like the one depicted in this thread). Where can I find a copy of it?

It's not a mod that a Fleet member made so I'm not sure where you would get it. Computerex wasn't a fleet developer at the time and his stuff was available at OHM. The mod is pretty old and may not work with 2010P1 and I not sure the author is still into Orbiter modding.  My guess would have been OHM or maybe someone over at OF can point you in the right direction.

Well I don't know what your seeing over at the University of Maryland but those are links to the Orbiter Hanger and the add on's are available there.  I checked the links and they still work. the Star Wars Physics MFD is harder to find but if you do a search of computerex at OH or orbpak.  The MFD in question is called the Jump MFD or JumpMFD ???  Here are the links again:

Jump drive
http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2609

StarWarsPhysics and other cool stuff
http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3508

If this still doesn't work I don"t know what to tell you.  And if it does do not jump with the SWP on or you WILL crash the sim.
